Master Of Public Health (Adult & Graduate Programs)
Definition: The Indiana Wesleyan University Master of Public Health (MPH) is a 43 credit hour graduate program designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of each of the five (5) core areas of public health including Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Services Administration, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. Delivered from a distinctly faith-based foundation, the IWU MPH program is designed to prepare students for a career to influence public health on a local, state, national and global level. Students will value, understand, and apply inter-related social-behavior theories and contextual factors to address the complex health problems of the 21st-century households, communities, and organizations.
Upon satisfactory completion of the Master of Public Health program, students should be able to:
1. Apply evidence-based knowledge of social, biological, and environmental determinants to disease and health conditions.
2. Employ appropriate methods of design, analysis, and synthesis to address population-based health problems in
urban, rural and global environments.
3. Integrate the interrelationships in the organization, delivery, and financing of health services.
4. Explain public health principles, concepts, and strategies across multiple sectors of the community.
5. Promote diversity and cultural understanding in public health education, research and practice.
6. Demonstrate public health knowledge and skills in practice settings.
7. Demonstrate effective leadership competencies for building partnerships and advocating for public health
programs and policies.
8. Articulate a Christian worldview about public health issues.
Indiana Wesleyan University's Master of Public Health program is an online degree offered through a well-recognized instruction modality. Students will take one (1) eight (8) week course at a time allowing them to earn a degree while maintaining their personal and professional commitments. Students will also engage in a hands-on, mentored experience in a public health setting that is arranged to coincide conveniently with one's work and life.
